English grammar has 4 common demonstratives that - this - these -those.

Demonstratives are used to state if something or someone is far or close.
They come in 2 forms singular and plural.
That is used for singular nouns that are close.
This is used for singular nouns that are far or not near.
These is used for plural nouns that are close.
Those is used for plural nouns that are far or not near.

Demonstratives can be used as adjectives (sometimes called "demonstrative adjectives")
A demonstrative adjectives are used to modify a noun. Examples: This cake is excellent.

Demonstratives can be used as pronouns.
A demonstratives pronoun is used instead of the noun. Examples: This is really good.

Examples:
