Version: 4.0.0.305 March 2011.

Textaizer Pro 4 has been released!

Textaizer Pro 4 is the newest version of the popular text art software from APP Helmond. We have fully redesigned the software: more stable, simpler interface and an exciting new feature: Crazy Characters.

What is Textaizer Pro?

Textaizer Pro is a text mosaic creator with extensive possibilities to also create genuine ASCII art.
What can you do with Textaizer Pro?

You can turn any picture into little pieces of art by re-painting its bitmap from a text. Simply choose a text file and the target picture and press the button. Hide your text in a picture and send it to your loved one as a 'secret'

message. Or simply create and print balloons from 'happy birthday' words.
Is Textaizer Pro a unique program?

Yes. Many ASCII art applications can be found on the internet and also some text mosiac creators. Textaizer Pro is however one of the few programs that combines these two possibilities and above all it's freeware. And that makes Textaizer Pro unique. The key features of Textaizer Pro

A text mosaic is a picture which is built from hundreds or thousands of characters. Each character takes the color of the area that is replaced by this character, and when looking from a distance the original source picture is recognised. If looking close-up, the individual characters can be seen.
When sentences are taken a source text, this story is then printed as a picture ('every picture tells a story'). With Textaizer Pro you can make such text mosaic pictures.
But Textaizer Pro can do much more that just that. The key features are:
 • create text mosaics (limits: perhaps, we have built a 4000x5000 pixels poster of 59 Mb)
 • extensive pre- and post-processing with color correction filters, size, font and background
 • create bitmaps from text (aka ASCII art)
 • IntelliDraw: create ASCII art directly from drawn lines
 • free drawing ASCII art, with eraser functionality
 • create video with ASCII art from video clips
 • large viewing window with seamless zoom
 • a wide variety of output: text, html, bitmap, avi
 • HTML file generation in two modes: color or black & white
Shakira, painted with the lyrics of "Ciega, Sordomuda"
First, the text of the lyrics was prepared by copying the text in an ascii text file. We used Notepad to edit the text. Since the lyrics consisted of short pieces of text, we removed all end-of-lines and created only two long sentences (make sure the 'word wrap'
is unchecked to correctly count the number of sentences).
In Textaizer Pro we loaded both picture and text files and created the text mosaic with the default settings. The result was post processed in Adobe Photoshop where the levels were modified (darker & higher contrast).

Now you know what's on Homer's mind...
The FontArt feature in Textaizer Pro (build 3.0.14) was used on Homer's famous X-ray picture. We inverted the X-ray and used a modest setting for the gamut (not all gray pixels are used for printing a text). The text contained 268 lines with the titles of (all?) the Beatles songs with font size 15 and default linesize (22 when a font of 15 is chosen). Finally we set the random font probability to the max (10). It took only 5 seconds to render this picture. Photoshop CS3 was used to Zoomify the full picture.

Happy birthday balloons
Similar to the Shakira example, the text of the input file was prepared. This time, a very short line was used: 'Happy birthday ! Congratulations ! Live long and prosper !'. Tip: add the name of a person to the source text. We used a large font (18 pt) to assure a readable result. When printing this on A3 paper and placed somewhere in the room, the birthday party is ready to start ! No post-processing was done (or needed).
The one and only Fozzy Bear. Never short of a reply...well?
Crazy Characters is the new feature that has been introduced with Textaizer Pro 4. It basically writes with text, using the mouse as a pencil. For people with less time also an automation button is supplied, creating crazy effects in a fraction of a second. The picture of Fozzy Bear consists of hunderds of random characters, and since a PNG picture was used (having transparency) only the Fozzy parts were covered with characters. We started with font 60, then 40, and finally pressed the automation button twice with fontsize 24.
The only real Dutch gentleman Lord Bommel ('Heer Bommel') and his 'young friend' Tom Poes.
Leveraging the hidden possibilities with the extended ASCII table! Old and faithful wordprocessors like Wordperfect could easily create little gems with the extended ASCII set and an ordinary matrix printer. Textaizer Pro can create similar results by using the special settings in HTML code to visualize these characters. Check out the full HTML example.

If Shakespeare could now speak up, he'd ...
Even old text can enjoy a new life! Black and white (grayscale) picture are excellent food for Textaizer Pro. Using old-fashioned fonts, the text could become even more realistic. How about Adam and Eve, built from the chapter of Genesis?

The Poster Book
Why not make a giant poster with your favorite text (Peter Gabriel, James Joyce or Jack Vance)? We used the 'emboss' option to create a black and white poster where the entire text of a Shakespeare sonnet was written.

Superman in print: ASCII art has no limits.
The picture size is 4375 x 6293 pixels. It took about 12 seconds to make this ASCII picture and corresponding ASCII file (you'll find the file in the downloaded TextaizerPro.zip file). Settings: font size = 16, coverage = 40%, variance = 100%, contrast = 68%, saturation = 0%, lightness = 23%, size multiplication factor 6 x (=336 characters per line). All others settings as default. Big is beautiful, but the Daily Planet would be too small to print this text ;-). Check out the ASCII code in HTML

Homer Simpson: small is beautiful?
We applied an user specified character set for generating this ASCII art file. As a result, this famous picture of Homer was build up from # $ M X o a e - only. Here you can see a similar result in ASCII web page format.
