Version 1.0: Initial Relead
Version 1.01: Big Fix (redecoration error)
Version 1.02: Fixed hard coded Twitter Username
Version 1.03: Added new option: "Clean Twitter URL?" - Necessary for non-English forums.
Version 1.05: Added new option: "Force Standard URL?" - VBSEO users may want to turn this option off for better compatibility.
*There have been mixed reports this may or may not work correctly with VBSEO. I don't have VBSEO and can't test it with VBSEO, as always, use at your own risk.*
What this mod does:
This mod gives you 8 new choices to replace the standard Facebook Like button in VB4 (Like/Recommend, Standard/Box Count, Light/Dark), in addition to the standard button, and the option to disable the Facebook Like button altogether but still use other share options mentioned below.
In addition to the many Facebook options it also adds a Twitter Tweet button, a Google +1 button, a Digg button, and an AddThis.com share menu. Each one of these can be enabled or disabled and you can choose to display a count or not for facebook, twitter*, google, and digg.
*Note: Twitter's count is not currently known to work on VB4 through no fault of this mod- it's just an unresolved conflict somewhere. It is recommended you keep the Twitter count disabled until this can be resolved.
How this mod works:
This mod overrides the template facebook_likebutton so any customizations you may have done to it will be ignored if this mod is enabled.
This mod will only show in locations you already have the standard Facebook Like button enabled.
This mod was tested with 4.0.8 and 4.1.4 and is believed to work on all 4.0.x and 4.1.x versions of vBulletin.
On versions prior to 4.1.2 (before vBulletin moved the default like button) it will move the like button to the new (4.1.2+) location unless you choose the "Legacy" Like Button in the mod options. However all new share options will always be in the new location so it is recommended you use one of the non-legacy options.
If for some reason you prefer the legacy like button on a newer version of vBulletin you can also enable it and it will move the old style button back to the old location.
Note the new Facebook Share options use XFBML so it is a good way to add XFBML technology to older versions of vBulletin 4. The "Legacy" option uses the IFRAME Like Button.
1 File to Upload- an image for the "AddThis.com Share Button" - Only necessary if you plan to enable the "AddThis" button option. You can also replace the image with one of your choosing.
Otherwise just install the product file and set your settings. Full instructions in the zip file.
Note: This is setup only for English forums as is. You will have to modify the plugin code to get the share buttons to display in various other languages. I can not support translations on this mod but feel free to post your own translations in this thread if you feel it will be of help to others.
Note 2: Twitter does not support non-English characters in URLs therefore there is a new option in the mod settings "Clean Twitter URL?" - Any forum with non-English text should enable this option.
